Three mine rescuers killed in Russia's Listvyazhnaya mine during rescue mission

In a rescue operation at the Listvyazhnaya mine, where a fire broke out on November 25, contact with a rescue team was lost, TASS said earlier.

“At around 3pm, a team of mine rescuers, who were performing rescue operations on a long line, stopped talking. Their investigation has been organized,” the Emergency Ministry said. The squadron consisted of six lifeguards.

In the past, rescue operations at the mine had to be halted for fear of explosions.

“On the edge of the methane is more than six percent, carbon monoxide is more than 0.25 percent, and this is a huge explosion. The potential for the explosion is very high,” said Kemerovo Governor Sergei Tsivilev.

Danger in Listvyazhnaya Mine occurred Thursday morning, November 25. The fire was caused by the burning of coal dust – the smoke spread throughout the mine through the exhaust channels. There were 285 workers on the ground, of whom 43 were injured. He was hospitalized, four of them in critical condition, 39 mild and moderate. Eleven people were killed in the crash.
