Patients turning up to pharmacies for lateral flow tests ‘every five minutes’

Lack of blood tests in pharmacies is a “serious” problem because people have been asking for it every five minutes during the Christmas season, providers have warned.

A director of the Association of Independent Multiple Pharmacies said that patients often fail to get Covid-19 tests in pharmacies because of limited and “inconsistent” properties.

Leyla Hannbeck also added that the 900,000 exam today does not meet the requirements.

Speaking on today’s BBC Radio 4 program, Hannbeck said: “What our members are telling us is that the need for lateral tests is very high at the moment due to the available guidelines on isolation.

“Factories say every five minutes a person comes to the store for testing.

“But, unfortunately, because of the difficulties associated with availability and instability, it means that those who come for testing do not always get it, which is a major concern not only for the pharmacist but for the patient.

“The magnitude of the problem is huge because the need is huge, because of the guidelines available.

“People are doing the right thing to be tested and we are in the Christmas season, and the New Year is approaching and people want to have relatives and friends.”

The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) says about 900,000 weapons are being delivered per day – double the number found on December 18 – but Ms Hannbeck said childbirth has been “difficult”.

Hannbeck told Today: “It is not enough to achieve what they want and it is difficult.

“Some days you get one box and some days you don’t. It is not enough for a pharmacy to donate to patients. ”

He added: “We want to ensure that the message is clear to the Government that the submissions must be consistent.”

This comes after government websites also announced in the weeks leading up to Christmas that subsequent tests were “not yet available”, and many people who tried to test for PCR tests were sent to faraway places or told not to.
