Melbourne Storm NRL player charged by Queensland Police over alleged incident outside hotel

The Melbourne Storm has filed a lawsuit against NRL player Tui Kamikamica after he was charged by Queensland police in connection with a suspected case of a woman in Brisbane, while the case is being investigated by the NRL.

On Friday afternoon, Storm issued a statement, confirming the club’s idea.

“Melbourne Storm today suspended Tui Kamikamica after a Queensland police investigation into a woman case outside a Brisbane hotel,” he said.

“[The] Storm was notified of the charges Thursday afternoon and advised the NRL security team immediately.

“Due to the seriousness of the allegations, the party decided to suspend Kamikamica pending a response to the case,” [outcome of the] NRL integrity unit investigative and the club completes a private interview with Kamikamica, who is not out of state.

“It simply came to our notice then.

“[The] Storm firmly believes that there is no place in a sport or a group of women’s violence at any given time, in any case.

“The club will not comment further until further notice on Kamikamica’s request and further inquiries.”

The Fiji-born Kamikamica played 22 Storm games in the 2021 NRL season, including Penrith’s last defeat at Brisbane’s Lang Park in September.

The agent has appeared 55 at Storm since launching the NRL in 2017.

Kamikamica, 27, represents Fiji at the Test level.
