Kumar, an electrician working in Morada, Uttar Pradesh, was the youngest married man in the family of five. Last Thursday, he was hit by a speeding motorcycle in Moradabad, east of New Delhi. He was taken to a private hospital in critical condition. Doctors announced he had died on arrival.

Dr. Shiv Singh, chief medical officer in Moradabad, said, “The paramedic saw the patient at 3am and there was no heart attack.”

The next day, an electrician was transferred to a state hospital and placed in a morgue before being examined. Six hours after her family realized her body, Kumar Madhu Bala’s brother-in-law said he saw her shaking.

In a video posted on television, the mysterious Madhu Bala was heard shouting, “She is not dead, she is really far away. How did this happen? Look, she wants to say something, she is breathing” the Times reported.

Singh said the doctor told him he had “been tested several times” and “there was no heart attack.”

He called the cases “extremely rare,” as well as an example of suspended video, adding “we can not say negligence … until we have all the reports in our hands.”

An unidentified doctor told the Times at the hospital that although the refrigerator should be below 10C, there was an electrical problem with the refrigerator that turned on and off.

“It probably saved his life,” she said.

Police are launching an investigation into how Kumar was pronounced dead and placed in a refrigerator.

“We will take action against anyone who kills him,” said his brother.
