Louis Saha reveals why Roy Keane is ‘fuming’ with Harry Maguire after Man Utd team-mates refuse to call each other out

LOUIS SAHA has announced that Roy Keane was right in criticizing Harry Maguire when he said that some former Manchester United players should call the team up.

A 43-year-old boy believes the team should be held accountable for his actions which led to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer being removed from Old Trafford.

United have picked up just four points in their last seven Premier League games on Sunday’s trip to Stamford Bridge to face Chelsea.

If the results clash with the Red Devils over the weekend, they could find themselves at the bottom of the table.

Club Keane story written Maguire as a ‘disgrace’ for his recent actions, and An Irishman was later charged with torture.

But Saha, who has won both Premier League and Champions League titles during his time at the Theater of Dreams, is defending his former team-mate.

Speaking to SunSport via 101 Great Goals, he said: “I think there has been some legitimate criticism, what amazes me is what seems to be a lack of opposition within the team.

“Looks like no one in the United camp is calling everyone else for not doing well. I would love Ole to do this.

“Players who act like leaders with years of experience do not invite others and can have positive results.

“I think that’s why Roy Keane is so cruel because he knows everyone makes mistakes, players miss opportunities, don’t do well and it hurts.

“But it only looks at the mind and not just the results. At the moment it seems the players are letting things change – no, it’s not good!

“I’m not comfortable with that and that’s probably why some of the fans are upset.

“That’s why Roy Keane, who was a heart and soulmate at United when I was there, is angry with Maguire. I really believe it’s not against him, but the whole team and that’s why I think it’s fair.”

“It may seem painful because it contradicts the individual, but Maguire is the captain and the team’s representative. Keane’s criticism I believe affects the whole team.”

Saha also spoke of his frustration with Solskjaer’s dismissal, although he admitted that United had no choice but to suspend his contract.

The former Tottenham midfielder has also said he wants Zinedine Zidane to take up a full-time position next year. Ralf Rangnick is ready to be appointed permanent manager.

Commenting on Solskjaer’s axing, he said: “I was very sad, he proved to be a good manager during his tenure.

“In the end, he could not explain exactly what the fans wanted to see and, in some ways, he was probably very aggressive in changing his methods.

“It’s very difficult instead even very difficult. In the end, if you lose against Liverpool and Watford the way they did maybe there are no other consequences.

“She is still trying to support the team, but I am listening to her.

“As for the next manager, there are speculations [Mauricio] Pochettino, [Ernesto] Valverde and Zidane among others.

“They’re all big names, but my choice would be Zidane because of his descendants as a manager, not because he was a great player – not enough for me.

“Smart management, and one of the best performers, one of the only top players in the world to be a global manager. He could be an obvious choice in my eyes.

“But he has not spoken publicly and those around him have said they are not interested. It is not the most promising but who knows.

“I know he wants to win; he wants to tackle big problems and United are a good place to move forward as a manager. He could be good in the Premier League if he joins them.”
