‘Iranian companies ready to boost presence in Armenia’

Iran’s Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian has said Iran’s relations with Armenia are strong and progressive in a telephone conversation with his Armenian counterpart Ararat Mirzoyan.

During the phone call, the two top ambassadors shared views on a range of issues including bilateral cooperation, economic cooperation, the Joint Economic Commission of the two countries, and what is happening in the region and countries.

Amir Abdollahian expressed satisfaction with the developments in the Tehran-Yerevan relationship in recent months. He emphasized the need to deepen the relationship between the two political, economic and other sectors.

Iran’s Foreign Minister said Iranian companies were ready to boost their presence in Armenia and expressed hope that the Join Economic Commission of Iran and Armenia would meet soon.

The Iranian ambassador also said that the Islamic Republic does not accept any changes in its borders with the countries in the region.

Amir Abdollahian also spoke about the impact of the recent war on the Caucasus and called for self-restraint and respect for international loyalty.

The Armenian foreign minister also spoke about the proposed course of relations between Iran and Armenia that was highlighted during his recent visit to Tehran. Mirzoyan said Yerevan was ready to join the Joint Economic Commission and develop trade relations with Tehran.

He commended the Islamic Republic for its commitment to international cooperation and for emphasizing Armenia’s commitment to strengthening bilateral relations with Iran.

Iran and Armenia have forged strong political and economic ties. Armenia has recently built an Iranian transit route after Azerbaijan imposed a fine on vehicles using a crossroads.
