IN PICS: Take a look at Spain’s extraordinary scrap cathedral built entirely by one man

JUSTO Gallego Martinez, a former monk who spent the last 60 years of his life building a church building in a town outside Madrid, died in late November at the age of 96.

Yet the work of his life is still unfinished, a grand vision rises in the mysterious town of Mejorada del Campo, built slowly into a cathedral that includes a cathedral, a crypt, several towers and cloisters.

The stained glass windows are transformed into stained glass windows, sculptures made of broken tiles rescued from the construction site adorn the inconsistent stairs and the top of the copula bones rises above the altar, still open in the sky.

Congregations made from oil drums and durable car tires support unfinished locks and the walls are lined with religiously depicting images such as the Last Supper, while the unseen waves of students look stunning from under their secrets inside the crypt.
