Comments sought from the Draft Wildlife Rehabilitation Strategy
Interviews have begun on the Draft Wildlife Rehabilitation Strategy, which aims to build a solid foundation for rehabilitation of wildlife in Tasmania.
A wildlife rehabilitation program has been developed by a coordinating body consisting of members of the wildlife conservation sector.
This is a community-led project with the support of this department.
The Coordinating Committee met extensively with representatives of the wildlife conservation sector last year, including an online survey and a number of government consultations, to agree on improvements.
The information and comments provided through the discussions were used to develop the Draft Strategy. Information obtained through this study and interviews, and the Draft Strategy, is available on the department’s website www.nre.tas.gov.au
Comments on the Draft Strategy are open until 31 January 2022.
Wildlife rangers play an important role, and voluntarily set aside time and resources to provide an opportunity to return to the injured and orphaned wildlife of Tasmania.
If you are interested in volunteering to repair damaged and orphaned wildlife, please contact the Department for more information at 6165 4305.
