Assad died in his childhood home in the middle of the West Bank, where he and his 50-year-old wife, Nazima Abdullah, returned in 2010 after a lifetime in the American Midwest. After moving as a newlywed in 1967, Assad started running businesses in Wisconsin and Illinois, his family said. The couple raised seven children in the United States, five of whom gathered Sunday in Milwaukee at the home of daughter Noha Saleh, 36, to remember their father as a dedicated, friendly and faithful American Dream.
