Covid in Ireland: Latest county-by-county data

Drogheda has the highest 14-day Covid-19 count than the Local Electoral Area (LEA) in the Republic according to HSE findings.

The township LEA of Drogheda has 2,235 cases per 100,000 people, placing ahead of Laytown-Bettystown in Co Meath, of which 2,198.

Drogheda’s rural LEA was not well behind, however, with 1,941 cases per 100,000 people making up the fifth largest number in the country. Donaghmede (2,046 cases per 100,000) in Dublin and Cork City in the northwest (2,043) has the third and fourth highest rates respectively.

At the state and county level, Carlow cases of 1,809 per 100,000 are the highest, followed by Westmeath (1,799), Louth (1,723), Kilkenny (1,558) and Longford (1,485). The number of 14 days worldwide on November 22nd was 1,268 per 100,000 people.

On Thursday, a medical official described the prevalence of the virus as “very high”, adding that 62,401 new cases had been confirmed in the past 14 days.

In the past, the Department of Health He also mentioned 4,764 new cases, where there were 598 people infected with the virus in the hospital (126 in the ICU) at 8am Thursday morning.

Speaking at the HSE annual press conference on Thursday afternoon, chief medical officer Dr Colm Henry said the five-day number of new daily cases exceeded 4,665, compared to the 6,867 threat in January.

Chief Operating Officer Anne O’Connor also expressed concern about the number of health workers who are not available to work due to Covid problems, noting that there are currently 5,106 unemployed workers.

Ms O’Connor added that the figure does not include migrant workers and that the total number of absentee workers could reach 5,800.
