Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Friday has changed its instructions on masks for the general public, it is said that people “can choose” to wear N95 and KN95 masks because they provide excellent protection against COVID-19.
But the council declined to comment, saying “the CDC continues to encourage you to wear a protective mask that you can fit well and to wear it regularly.”
In the past, the CDC has not recommended that most people wear N95 or KN95 masks, a common type of Chinese-made mask, fearing that running on top of the masks could affect medical availability. The CDC now says the shortage is no longer a concern.
“Properly worn and properly fitted,” the agency wrote on its page, N95 respirators approved by the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health, or NIOSH, “provide the most effective protection against microbes, including the virus that causes COVID-19.”
With omicrons causing disease in the US, many are just wondering which COVID-19 test is the most effective.
