Cases rising, but pressure on the health service far lower

Patient care numbers are one-third of what was in August.

Although the number of new daily cases on Wednesday reached its highest level since August 21 (257 versus 284 in August), existing health pressure it is very different.

Recent figures from the Balearic Ministry of Health show that there are 2,784 active cases, where there were 8,259 on August 21. The cases are the number of people in the hospital including those under intensive care. On Thursday, there were 22 Covid patients in the main hospital, compared to 76 in August. There were 77 divisions; in August the figure was 219.

However, August’s figures were related to what was known as the “fifth wave”, which reached its peak with an increase in July. Current statistics show that a “sixth” he started.

Medical and prevention expert, Joan Carles March, agrees that the figures will rise, but does not believe that the recent wave will bring the same numbers as in the past. “We will not get there the same numbers, but we must do it keep an eye on the record to get an accurate picture of what will happen in the coming weeks. “
