Paine has stepped down as Australian test captain for sexually explicit messages

Pat Cummins has been confirmed as Australia’s next captain Save list, instead of Tim Paine resigning abruptly last Friday.

Paine’s tears were forced to stop as Australia skipper last Friday evening in Ashes after a series of sexually explicit messages sent to a former Cricket Tasmania teammate four years ago.

Paine’s resignation – who is taking a “crazy break” from the game – threw Australian ashes just three weeks before it all started. England in Brisbane to Gabba on December 8th.

But Australia has moved swiftly to announce that the Cummins will not only lead the bowling threat, but will also lead the entire Ash team and beyond.

Cummins raced after two years as vice-captain, former captain and star player Steve Smith as his vice-captain.

Cricket Australia coach Nick Hockley was overjoyed at the country’s new Test captain on Friday – calling him “the best player and leader” in confirming the story.

“He is highly regarded by his teammates and in all aspects of the game because of his attitude and action, both on and off the pitch,” said Hockley.

“We are very fortunate to have a team of great players who are top leaders. I have no doubt that Pat and Steve will be well supported in their leadership roles.”

Australian sprinter Cummins himself did not hide his interest in the news, uttering his words.

Cummins said: “I am honored to take on this role ahead of what will be the great summer of the Ashes. I hope I can give the same leadership that Tim (Paine) has given the team a few years ago.

“With Steve as a leader, the greatest player on the team and the most talented youngsters to come, we are a very strong and connected team.

“This is an unexpected opportunity I really appreciate and look forward to.”

In the meantime, it has also been confirmed that Paine has taken a holiday to be known in the future, which has disrupted Australian ash plans following a text message insult.

“Confirming that @ tdpaine36 is leaving cricket to take a break,” Paine superintendent James Henderson wrote in social media.

“We are very concerned about his life with (wife) Bonnie and we are not saying anything yet.”
